Boarding Life
A Home Away From Home
Being a boarding school, with a few day scholars from surrounding farms, the boarding home complex forms an essential part of Lord Milner. The school offers well-structured boarding facilities for Junior Boys in Rhodes Boarding Home, Senior Boys in Monty Boarding Home, Junior Girls in Clarendon Boarding Home, and Senior Girls in Rainbow Boarding Home.
Accommodation is comfortable and practical, consisting of two- and four-bed dormitories where each child is provided with their own personal locker. Every boarding home is managed by a dedicated matron who oversees the health, wellbeing, and daily domestic needs of the children, while a Senior Head of Hostels ensures the smooth operation and overall management of the entire boarding complex.
Over weekends, learners are encouraged to relax and enjoy a balanced lifestyle, with supervised swimming available during the summer months and access to sports facilities such as soccer fields, cricket nets, tennis courts, and netball courts. Evenings provide time to unwind, with television and videos carefully selected and supervised by staff.
Boarding fees include a tuck allowance, which learners receive twice a week. All meals are freshly prepared in the boarding home kitchens and are designed to meet high standards of nutrition, quality, and variety to support growing children.
Parents remain an important part of the school community, with Parents’ Days offering valuable opportunities to engage with educators and staff. A dedicated Parents/Teachers Committee supports the school through various initiatives, including fundraising, while parents also contribute to decision-making by serving on the School Governing Body alongside educators and staff representatives.
